PREPARATION MEETING OF THE CAMPAIGN ON THE LAW AGAINST GENOCIDE IDEOLOGIES BY CEJP WITH PARTENERS, Kigali on 27th February 2024
On february 27th,the sun cast a warm glow over the meeting hall where the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace gathered. This was no ordinary meeting; it marked a pivotal moment in a campaign aimed at confronting the dark shadows of genocide ideology and related crimes.
As representatives from various institutions filed into the room, a palpable sense of urgency filled the air. The Commission, known for its unwavering commitment to human rights, was determined to raise awareness and incite action against the remnants of hatred that had plagued their society.
Bishop Valens NIRAGIRE the national secretary of the the Commission, opened the meeting with a poignant reminder of the past. “We are here not just to remember the victims but to ensure that their stories are never forgotten. We must stand united against the ideologies that led to such atrocities.”
The agenda was clear: to discuss strategies for the upcoming campaign, which aimed to educate the law against genocide ideology and related crimes for the coordinators of CDJP,Para jurists, Journalists and the staff of CEJP Rwanda. Representatives from RIB, MINIJUST,MINALOC,MINUBUMWE shared their insights, each adding a unique perspective.
