On March 16, 2025, at the Catholic Diocese of Butare, specifically in the Simbi parish, CEJP Rwanda participated in a ceremony to conclude the teachings on the journey of reconciliation, unity, and forgiveness. A total of 29 individuals completed a six-months course and requested forgiveness from the families they had wronged. The ceremony began with a mass.
During this mass, the 29 individuals who sought forgiveness were blessed with holy water and received light as a symbol of their forgiveness and newfound illumination. In his message, Father Valens Niragire stated, “The journey of forgiveness requires humility, the release of one’s heart, and the ability to overcome oneself for the sake of future generations, so that they may live in peace and love rather than in conflict and despair.”
After the mass on March 16, 2025, the ceremony to conclude the teachings on the journey of reconciliation, unity, and forgiveness included various messages that emphasized the importance of asking for and granting forgiveness as a sign of unity, justice, and peace. The event concluded with a shared meal of peace, symbolizing unity.
